Commercial Manager | Defence Tech

£80k + 10% bonus

Portsmouth has quietly become a serious hub for defence tech and simulation.

I’m working with a company building advanced immersive training and simulation platforms used in complex operational environments. They’re growing and now need a Commercial Manager to bring structure, discipline and leadership to the commercial side of the business.

This role sits across bids, contracts, suppliers and programme delivery. In a scaling SME like this, that means real ownership. You’ll be involved from opportunity stage through to contract completion, helping the business win work, manage risk properly and deliver programmes commercially.

What they’re looking for

• Around 5+ years in defence commercial roles

• Strong understanding of defence contracting and regulatory frameworks

• Comfortable negotiating contracts and supporting bids

• Commercially sharp with good financial awareness

• Someone who can operate in a fast-moving SME environment

You’ll be working directly with leadership and delivery teams to make sure commercial decisions are clear, informed and properly managed as the company scales.

If you’ve worked in defence technology, simulation, training or complex engineering environments, this will feel very familiar.
