Maintenance Engineers (1 x Mechanical and 1 xElectrical)
Oxfordshire | Full-Time | Monday–Friday (Days) + On-Call Rota
We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team at a modern research and production facility in Oxfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically or electrically biased technician who enjoys working in a varied environment supporting critical building services, laboratory facilities, and production equipment.
The Role
As part of a multi-skilled maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of site equipment and facilities. Working with a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of engineering assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across building, plant, and equipment.
- Maintain key site services and utilities, including:
- Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Extract fans and motors
- Electrical LV systems and lighting
- Water systems, pumps, boilers, and calorifiers
- Laboratory fume cupboards and pipework
- Vacuum and pressurisation systems
- Perform fault finding, diagnostics, and breakdown repairs.
- Support and liaise with external contractors maintaining specialist systems such as:
- Gas boilers
- Compressed air systems
- UPS and LV switchgear
- BMS and fire alarm systems
- Generators and laboratory gas systems
- HVAC, chillers and LEV systems
- Participate in routine site checks and safety activities, including weekly fire alarm testing.
- Join the on-call rota (approximately 1 week in 4) and occasional out-of-hours support.
About You
We’re looking for a proactive technician who enjoys problem solving and working within a collaborative engineering team.
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years’ maintenance experience in a facilities, manufacturing, utilities, chemical, or laboratory environment
- Mechanical or Electrical apprenticeship (or equivalent NVQ Level 2/3 experience)
- Strong fault finding and maintenance skills
- Basic computer literacy and ability to work with maintenance systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Experience working within pharmaceutical, GMP, or life sciences environments
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Exposure to energy efficiency initiatives or ATEX environments
