The Role


As Senior HSE Advisor, you will provide visible leadership on-site and work closely with the Project Director, Construction Managers, and subcontractors to embed a strong safety culture across all phases of the build.

You will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with UK legislation, CDM Regulations, and best-practice standards while driving proactive risk management and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and promote a strong behavioural safety culture across site
  • Provide expert advice on UK HSE legislation including CDM Regulations 2015
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews
  • Review and approve RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure robust corrective actions
  • Monitor high-risk activities (lifting operations, confined spaces, hot works, working at height, temporary works, etc.)
  • Support environmental compliance including waste management and pollution prevention
  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Liaise with external regulators and client HSE representatives as required
  • Produce detailed HSE reports and KPI analysis for senior leadership


Experience & Qualifications:


Essential:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification)
  • Chartered or working toward Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH desirable)
  • Minimum 7+ years’ HSE experience in large-scale construction projects
  • Experience on complex industrial, manufacturing, or energy projects
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and CDM
  • Proven ability to influence subcontractors and senior stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Experience on battery, automotive, pharmaceutical, or high-tech manufacturing facilities
  • Environmental qualification (IEMA or equivalent)
  • Temporary Works or Lifting Operations knowledge
