Role Overview
A Mechanical Construction Manager is required to join the delivery team on a large commercial project in Central London. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing mechanical construction activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality while supporting the Project Manager and wider site team.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for health and safety on site
- Lead by example by setting, monitoring, and enforcing high safety and quality standards
- Support the Project Manager in managing and supervising site personnel
- Provide leadership on site in relation to works being carried out and ensure adherence to the site safety plan and rules
- Ensure employees have the relevant training and competence to carry out their work safely and professionally
- Manage labour resources on site to ensure efficient delivery of works
- Complete and submit timesheets accurately and on time
- Liaise with payroll regarding site queries
- Maintain discipline on site, reporting incidents and taking appropriate action when required
- Manage and support apprentices in line with training requirements
- Assist the Project Manager with planning labour and material resources
- Use the purchasing system to procure materials in the most cost-effective manner
- Ensure all plant and equipment is properly maintained, secured, and off-hired when no longer required
- Support efforts to reduce costs where possible
- Check materials prior to installation to ensure they are fit for purpose and compliant with project specifications
- Assist in ensuring systems are completed and handed over to the client
- Notify the Project Manager of any issues preventing work from being completed efficiently
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by management
Requirements
- Relevant mechanical qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar Mechanical Construction Manager role
- Strong knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental systems
- Ability to understand team strengths and development needs
