Founding Engineer | Python, TypeScript & React | AI Intelligence Platform

The Role

You will join an early-stage AI startup building a platform that detects early competitor movements by analysing weak market signals before they become public.

As a Founding Engineer, you will work directly with the founders to build the core systems behind the intelligence engine. You’ll help shape architecture, product direction, and engineering standards while building across the stack, from signal ingestion pipelines and AI analysis layers through to the frontend experience.

This is a role for someone who enjoys operating in ambiguity, shipping quickly, and solving complex problems with real-world data.

The team works 2 days per week in their Nottingham office.

What They’re Looking For / What You’ll Work With

• 2+ years building production software systems
• Python development
• TypeScript development
• React frontend development
• LLM integration in production environments
• Asynchronous systems (Celery, Redis, task queues)
• PostgreSQL databases
• Data ingestion pipelines and AI-driven analysis
• AI-assisted development tools and modern LLM ecosystems
• Strong computer science fundamentals
• Startup mindset with high ownership and independent problem solving

Nice to Haves

• Knowledge graphs
• GraphRAG architectures
• Startup founding or early employee experience
• Internal tooling development
