Job description

Bring your energy to Aggreko as a BESS Technician based in Dumbarton. As a BESS Technician you are responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the BESS fleet that is offered to S&R to make it ready for hire again within the requirements and standards.

Power without pause. Heating, cooling and oil-free air without end. We keep our customers’ worlds on. From world-class events that last a few weeks to mining operations and remote communities who rely on us for decades.

What you’ll do as a BESS Technician:

  • Upon arrival of the fleet, prepare an estimate, determine which parts are needed and draw up an action plan.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair work in accordance with company guidelines and/or in consultation with suppliers.
  • Testing, detecting and resolving faults and if required, customising the sets according to customer specifications
  • Provide support for the operational business specifically focused on BESS
  • Keeping track of timesheets, maintenance and work reports

You are:

  • Time‑served Electrical Engineer (SCQF Level 7 / SVQ Level 3 or apprenticeship) with demonstrable hands‑on experience in single‑ and three‑phase electrics, and strong practical knowledge of AC and DC control systems.
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing BESS fleets (Battery Energy Storage Systems) and associated electrical equipment — skilled at fault diagnosis, testing and delivering robust repairs.
  • Must hold a full, clean and valid driving license
  • Technically curious and quick to learn: comfortable reading schematics, understanding new products and applications, and applying technical knowledge across diverse systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with clear, professional communication; adept at building relationships and engaging stakeholders at all levels (internal and external) to achieve safe, timely outcomes.
  • Safety‑first mindset with up‑to‑date working practices and regulatory compliance; competent in MS Office and PC tools, flexible and willing to travel as required.

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • A highly competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including a generous pension plan, annual bonus opportunities, and Life Assurance.
  • Annual leave allowance of 30 days plus 3 public holidays, with the flexibility to buy or sell additional days to suit your lifestyle
  • Opportunity for overtime based on business demand
  • Ongoing training and personalised development pathways to help you grow your skills and progress in your career
  • Paid volunteering days, giving you the chance to make a positive impact in your local community
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme, offering confidential support and resources to promote your wellbeing and a healthy work–life balance

Our people are can-do, positive, resilient and persistent. If that feels like you, apply now and build your career with the people bringing energy to the world.
