Job description

Shape the Future of Public Sector Reward

You know the challenges. You’ve navigated the complexities of pay structures, equity, and governance in the public sector. Now, it’s time to take that expertise to the next level.

At Korn Ferry, we’re looking for a Principal who understands the unique dynamics of public sector reward—and is ready to lead transformative projects that make a real difference. This is your chance to influence strategies that impact thousands of employees and strengthen the foundations of fairness and sustainability across councils, healthcare, and beyond.

Why This Role Matters

Public sector reward is evolving fast. It’s no longer just about compliance—it’s about strategic impact, innovation, and equity. In this role, you’ll:

  • Redesign pay and grading frameworks to meet modern workforce needs.
  • Lead equal pay and equity reviews that drive fairness and transparency.
  • Advise on governance and policy to future-proof reward systems.
  • Work directly with senior stakeholders to align reward with organizational priorities and public value.

Your insight will help public institutions attract, retain, and engage talent—and deliver better outcomes for communities.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in public sector reward—you know the landscape inside out.
  • Expertise in job evaluation, pay benchmarking, and reward design.
  • Strategic thinking combined with practical delivery skills.
  • A commitment to making reward fairer, smarter, and sustainable.

What You’ll Gain

  • The opportunity to lead high-profile projects that shape the future of public sector reward.
  • A collaborative, values-driven environment where your expertise is respected and your voice matters.
  • Access to global resources, cutting-edge tools, and continuous professional development.
  • A platform to mentor others, influence thought leadership, and grow your career.

Location & Travel

You’ll be based in the southern half of the UK, but you must be willing to travel the breadth and depth of the UK to support clients and maintain strong relationships through face-to-face interaction.

If you’re ready to use your public sector reward experience to drive meaningful change, we’d love to hear from you.
