Professional Indemnity Solicitor – Birmingham – Hybrid – up to £70,000


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Professional Indemnity Solicitor to join a well-established national law firm within its specialist Professional Indemnity team in Birmingham. This role focuses on acting for insurer clients on a wide range of complex claims against professionals, including high value, multi-party disputes across a variety of sectors.


You will manage your own caseload of professional indemnity matters while assisting Partners on high-value, complex, multi-party disputes. The work will involve defending a range of professionals and supporting on technically challenging litigation.


You’ll work directly with clients and insurers, handling claims from initial investigation through to resolution, including pre-action strategy, disclosure, drafting pleadings, mediation and litigation. You will review evidence, prepare detailed reports, instruct Counsel and experts, attend conferences and court hearings and support on mediations and disciplinary proceedings.


The Role


  • Assisting senior lawyers on complex, high value professional indemnity claims
  • Managing a personal caseload of smaller matters from instruction to resolution
  • Reviewing evidence, preparing reports and drafting key legal documents
  • Liaising directly with clients, Counsel and expert witnesses
  • Attending mediations, hearings and conferences
  • Conducting legal research and supporting strategic case preparation
  • Contributing to client training sessions and internal seminars
  • Ensuring compliance with professional standards and internal procedures


The Candidate


  • Solicitor or Legal Executive with 0-4 years’ PQE and experience in professional indemnity
  • Ability to work to deadlines/targets, prioritise and manage a varied caseload
  • Strong litigation and drafting skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills
  • Professional and effective communication with individual and business contacts
