Litigation Solicitor (NQ - 4PQE)

Witan Solicitors is looking for a Litigation Solicitor (NQ - 4PQE)

Job description

The Firm

Witan Solicitors is a specialist litigation firm based in Birmingham. We handle complex, high-value disputes across civil litigation, commercial law, insolvency, employment and family law often in the High Court. We’re a small, focused team, so everyone is hands-on and close to the work.

The Role

We’re recruiting a Litigation Solicitor (NQ - 4PQE) to join our litigation team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys progressing cases, drafting, problem-solving and taking responsibility early.

  • Prepare and manage court applications and procedural steps under CPR
  • Draft pleadings when required (Particulars of Claim / Defence)
  • Maintain excellent file discipline: deadlines, case plans, next actions
  • Identify and execute billing points consistently (WIP → bills → cash discipline)
  • Attend client meetings, take instructions and provide clear updates
  • Contribute to improving precedents, templates and litigation systems

  • Qualified solicitor (or due to qualify imminently) NQ - 4PQE
  • Strong understanding of civil litigation start to finish
  • Working familiarity with CPR and court procedure
  • Strong drafting ability (applications, correspondence, structured advice)
  • High standards, calm under pressure, and excellent organisation
  • Proficiency with Word/Outlook and a modern case-management mindset

Traits We Value

  • Accountable, self-motivated, and resilient
  • Proactive and commercially minded
  • High attention to detail and pride in quality
  • Team-first attitude aligned with our values: positivity, respect, communication, professionalism

Benefits

  • £38,000 - £52,000 DOE
  • 30 days’ annual leave including Bank Holidays
  • Real responsibility and high-quality litigation exposure
  • Supportive team with high standards and structured supervision
  • Career development support, including advocacy training and (for the right person) support toward Higher Rights of Audience and other relevant qualifications (subject to performance and business needs)
