Job description

Merchandiser

Didcot Area

Up to £50,000

Hybrid (3 days office based)

A well-established global fashion business with a strong European presence is looking to appoint a Merchandise Planner to sit at the centre of its commercial planning function. Operating across wholesale, digital, marketplace and event channels, this role is critical in ensuring the right product is in the right place at the right time to drive sales, protect margin and minimise risk.

You will be responsible for forecasting and intake planning in line with the range plan, setting and managing sales, stock and OTB targets at sub-category level, and delivering clear, actionable trading insight to the wider business. Working cross-functionally with Product, Sales, eCommerce and Supply Chain, you will ensure on-time PO management, maintain availability across core and seasonal lines, and optimise stock utilisation across all channels. You will also play a key role in managing the purchasing critical path and collaborating with international planning teams to hit key milestones and support category growth.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain and continuously refine demand forecasts across all channels
  • Set and manage sales, stock and OTB targets in line with financial plans
  • Own intake planning and PO accuracy to support on-time product flow
  • Deliver regular trading reports with clear, commercially focused actions
  • Monitor availability and drive stock optimisation across the business
  • Propose and manage markdown activity to control risk and maximise return
  • Partner with Supply Chain to ensure timely inbound delivery
  • Build strong relationships with international planning stakeholders

About you:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a Merchandise Planning or similar role within fashion, apparel or footwear
  • Experience planning across wholesale, retail and eCommerce channels
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong capability working with large data sets
  • SAP or similar ERP system experience
  • Highly analytical, organised and commercially focused
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence cross-functional teams

This is a high-visibility role in a planning function that directly impacts trading performance, stock health and long-term category growth, offering genuine exposure to international stakeholders and end-to-end product flow.
