Location: Cambridge Office, Hybrid

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 + benefits & bonuses


About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (5-7 years industry experience) to join a well-established, international multidisciplinary consultancy in their Cambridge office. This role offers hybrid working and the opportunity to work on technically complex and high-profile mission critical, public, and private sector projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems

• Develop mechanical design concepts and detailed solutions across multiple sectors

• Prepare and manage calculations, models, drawings, specifications, and reports

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders

• Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget, and quality standards

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers

• Support sustainable and low-carbon design strategies

• Contribute to design reviews and technical approvals


Key Requirements:

Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering

Strong experience within the building services industry

Proven experience delivering projects from concept through to completion

Experience working on mission critical, public, or private sector projects

• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary design teams

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is essential

• Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and design standards

• Understanding of sustainable and low-carbon design principles

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Proactive, delivery-focused mindset
