SHEQ Management Systems Manager – Upper Tier COMAH


Location: Runcorn

Salary: Up to £55,000

Working Pattern: Primarily On-Site

Type: Permanent


An established UK industrial manufacturing business is seeking a SHE Management Systems Manager to lead and develop Safety, Health, Environmental and Industrial Quality (SHEQ) management systems across its UK operations.


This is a site-based role focused primarily on the Rocksavage facility, with gradual integration of a second site. The position plays a critical role in ensuring ISO compliance, legal adherence, audit readiness and consistent SHEQ standards across the business.


The role reports into the UK SHE & Regulatory Manager and offers strong long-term growth potential within the SHE function.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and maintaining integrated ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
  • Owning and delivering the internal audit programme
  • Acting as the focal point for external audits (certification bodies, insurers and third parties)
  • Monitoring UK SHE legislation and conducting horizon scanning for regulatory changes
  • Managing corporate compliance software systems
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual SHEQ performance reports
  • Analysing data relating to incident investigation, change management and audit effectiveness
  • Supporting site initiatives including Safety Walks, training days and risk assessments
  • Developing and updating SHEQ procedures and industrial quality documentation
  • Ensuring consistent SHEQ standards across UK operations


What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree or NVQ Level 6 in Health, Safety or Environmental Management
  • NEBOSH qualification (essential)
  • Lead Auditor trained (IRCA or equivalent preferred)
  • Proven experience implementing and managing ISO-based SHE management systems
  • Strong knowledge of UK SHE legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience within chemicals or COMAH environments (upper-tier preferred, lower-tier considered)
  • Highly organised with strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Confident communicator able to engage at all organisational levels
  • Proactive, detail-oriented and capable of driving compliance initiatives
