Role: LED Designer/Electrical Design Engineer

Location: UK (Hybrid/Office & Site Support)

Salary: Up to £45,000

A growing energy efficiency and LED lighting specialist is looking to appoint an LED Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of energy-efficient lighting projects across commercial, education, healthcare and public-sector environments.

This is a hands-on technical role covering the full design lifecycle, from site surveys and client engagement through to detailed electrical and lighting design, installation documentation and commissioning support.

You will work closely with internal teams, contractors and clients to ensure lighting solutions are compliant, practical, energy-efficient and aligned with project requirements.

The Role

As an LED Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering compliant and buildable lighting designs while supporting project teams through installation and commissioning phases.

The role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects and provides an opportunity to develop technical expertise within a growing energy efficiency and lighting specialist.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver compliant, energy-efficient LED lighting designs across commercial and public sector projects
• Carry out site surveys to assess project requirements and gather technical information
• Produce lighting calculations and simulations using Dialux, Relux or similar lighting design software
• Develop electrical and lighting design drawings using AutoCAD or Revit
• Prepare technical documentation, installation drawings and commissioning information
• Select appropriate lighting products, controls and equipment for each project
• Work closely with project managers, contractors and clients during design and delivery stages
• Ensure designs comply with BS 7671 (18th Edition), CIBSE lighting guidance and relevant industry standards
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and project handover
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of internal design processes and standards

Experience & Skills Required

• Experience in LED lighting design or electrical design
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit
• Experience using lighting design software such as Dialux or Relux
• Solid understanding of BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
• Knowledge of CIBSE lighting standards and guidance
• Ability to produce clear technical drawings, calculations and documentation
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients
• Well organised with strong attention to detail

Desirable

• Experience delivering lighting projects within commercial, education, healthcare or public sector environments
• Experience with lighting control systems or smart lighting technologies
• Previous involvement supporting site installation or commissioning activities
• Electrical or engineering related qualification
