As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, analysis, and management of mechanical engineering systems for a variety of building services projects. You will lead mechanical design teams, interact with clients, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (MEng/BEng).
- Chartered or working towards chartership (e.g., CEng or IEng with a relevant institution such as CIBSE or IMechE).
- Proven experience in mechanical design engineering, with a solid understanding of building services engineering.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems, and other building services.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders effectively.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team of engineers.
- Knowledge of current building regulations, codes of practice, and sustainability standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities and Accountability
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other building services).
- Develop detailed mechanical design solutions in accordance with project specifications, local regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies to gather technical data for design development.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure that mechanical designs are energy-efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and designers within the team.
- Review and approve technical documentation, calculations, and drawings.
- Manage and support the preparation of project budgets, timelines, and resource allocations.
- Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide professional advice on mechanical design and systems.
- Keep abreast of the latest trends and advancements in mechanical engineering and building services technologies.
