Business Head / Chief Commercial Officer – UK IDNO

A well-funded new entrant in the UK electricity distribution sector is seeking a commercially driven Business Head / Chief Commercial Officer to lead the launch and growth of its Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) platform.


Backed by an international infrastructure investor/developer, the business is entering the UK market with a clear ambition to build a scalable electricity distribution network platform serving residential, commercial, industrial and energy transition projects.


This is a rare opportunity to build and lead an IDNO from market entry stage, with full responsibility across strategy, commercial growth, regulatory alignment and operational execution.


Key Responsibilities


• Develop and execute the UK market entry strategy and long-term business plan

• Build financial models, investment cases and growth forecasts

• Originate and secure network adoption and new connection opportunities

• Build relationships with developers, ICPs, contractors and major energy users

• Lead commercial negotiations and structuring of new projects

• Design the operating model including engineering delivery, compliance and asset management

• Lead regulatory engagement and ensure alignment with UK IDNO licensing requirements

• Build and lead the initial commercial and operational team


Candidate Profile


• Senior leadership experience within UK utilities, electricity networks, or energy infrastructure

• Direct experience in IDNO and/or ICP environments

• Strong commercial track record in securing revenue-generating projects

• Experience launching or scaling new ventures or business units

• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a high-growth startup environment


Opportunity


The role offers full P&L influence and strategic leadership, with the potential pathway to Chief Executive Officer subject to successful delivery of commercial and operational milestones.


Compensation


Executive-level package including performance incentives and long-term management incentive plan participation.
