Bandsaw Development Manager, UK South

Starrett UK & IRE is looking for a Bandsaw Development Manager, UK South

Job description

Location: Field-based, UK South

Territory: Nottingham to the South Coast, including Wales

Reporting to: General Manager

Job type: Full-time

About the role

Starrett is hiring a Bandsaw Development Manager to grow our bandsaw machine and blade business across the UK South.

This is a field-based role focused on end-user sales, application knowledge, and territory growth. You will work directly with fabricators, steel stockholders, engineering firms, manufacturers, and other industrial users to understand cutting applications, recommend the right machine and blade solution, and win business.

You will sell across Starrett’s 5 model bandsaw machine range, from portable to heavy industrial, supported by a state-of-the-art weld centre (Nottingham), blade range, and technical support team. Bandsaw is the focus of the role.

Must haves

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • bandsaw experience
  • strong technical and application knowledge
  • confidence working directly with end users
  • comfortable working in industrial and fabrication environments
  • a field sales approach and a strong new business mindset
  • willingness to travel extensively across the territory, including regular overnight stays where needed

What you’ll do

  • Grow Starrett’s bandsaw machine and blade business across the UK South
  • Develop new business while also growing existing accounts
  • Visit customer sites and assess cutting applications
  • Recommend suitable machine and blade solutions based on customer needs
  • Build relationships with operators, supervisors, production teams, buyers, and decision-makers
  • Manage your own diary, travel, pipeline, and follow-up activity
  • Work closely with internal technical and commercial teams to progress opportunities
  • Keep up to date with competitor activity, customer demand, and market movement
  • Report clearly on pipeline, key opportunities, and account activity

What you’ll bring

You should already be able to hold a credible technical conversation on a shop floor. This role suits someone who understands bandsaw applications, can turn technical credibility into sales, and is comfortable working in industrial environments.

Strong candidates are likely to have experience in bandsaw machine sales, bandsaw blade sales, industrial cutting applications, metalworking equipment, or a closely related area. You do not need to come from a large corporate business, but you do need to be credible, self-directed, and commercially strong.

Who this suits

This role will suit you if your background is end-user led, you are commercially driven, and you enjoy opening new opportunities as well as developing existing accounts.

This role will not suit you if your experience is mainly distributor-led, your technical knowledge is weak, or you prefer account maintenance over proactive business development.

Territory and travel

This is a large field-based territory covering Nottingham to the southern tip of the UK, including Wales. It is up to you how you plan your day and week, but regular travel, time on the road, and overnight stays are part of the role.

Apply

Apply through LinkedIn with your CV.

Your application should make clear:

  • what bandsaw experience you have
  • what types of end users or sectors you have sold into
  • why this territory suits you
