Key Account Manager – National Gas (UK)


Company Overview


A market-leading technology company within the process instrumentation, automation and control sector is seeking a Key Account Manager to drive business growth across the UK’s five major gas network companies. The company provides a complete ecosystem of hardware, software, and services, helping customers improve efficiency, ensure compliance, and optimize operations.

Role Overview


The Key Account Manager will strategically manage and develop business opportunities with the UK’s gas networks, offering hardware, software, and service solutions. The role focuses on building strong relationships with key stakeholders, understanding their operational needs, and positioning the company’s solutions as the preferred standard in process instrumentation, automation, and control.


The five major UK gas network companies are:

  • Cadent Gas
  • SGN (Scotia Gas Networks)
  • Northern Gas Networks (NGN)
  • Wales & West Utilities
  • National Gas (National Grid Gas Distribution)


Note: Candidates do not need prior experience with gas network companies, but must have successfully managed large accounts in relevant process industries such as oil & gas, petrochemicals, utilities, chemicals, power generation, or water treatment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve quarterly and annual sales objectives
  • Collaborate with marketing and technical specialists to enhance company positioning
  • Identify key decision-makers and influence strategic adoption of solutions
  • Maintain and grow business with existing customers
  • Develop champions and sponsors within new accounts
  • Organize user group meetings and workshops to discuss evolving requirements
  • Work alongside technical specialists to support and deliver complex projects
  • Coordinate with marketing to increase awareness of solutions


Requirements

  • Proven record (ideally 5+ years) in industrial automation, process instrumentation, or control technology projects
  • Industry experience managing large, complex accounts in process industries (oil & gas, petrochemicals, utilities, chemicals, power generation, water treatment, or similar)
  • Ability to engage, influence, and provide insights to key stakeholders
  • Strong business development and account management skills
  • Degree-level education or equivalent industry experience

  • Reports to Sales Director
