Background
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious individual with strong operations experience in financial markets to join an expanding, high-calibre service provider, providing outsourced middle and back-office services across a range of hedge funds. You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team of highly experienced former buy-side professionals. The Role
The main responsibilities of this role:
- To own relationship with and provide high quality delivery of day-to-day middle and back-office support to ~5-6 OSMO clients (mainly hedge funds and alternative investment funds) across a range of products.
- Oversight and review of OSMO’s offshore team – who will support the team in London on core deliverables (Cash and Position reconciliations)
- Assist with ongoing larger projects, and initiate ad-hoc process improvements and enhancements
Core Responsibilities:
Operations
- Trade capture and affirmation on T0
- Oversight of delivery of Daily position and cash reconciliations on T+1
- Monitor efficient trade transmission to custodian, prime brokers and administrators
- Corporate actions capture and processing
- Trade settlement queries
- Trade matching and Trade reconciliation
- Managing and monitoring the trade life cycle across the full spectrum of products – both cash and derivatives
- Daily / Weekly cash & margin management
- Provide support to the Fund Accounting Team on the NAV reconciliation process where required, and assist in setting up and managing expense accrual in various systems (including management fee and performance fee)
- Monitor Portfolio and Share Class FX hedging
- Various fund and client related reporting
- Liaise with counterparties, custodians, prime brokers, and administrators to ensure any issues are resolved in a timely manner
Account Management
- Liaise with clients to resolve any issues caused by daily processes and on a regular basis (monthly or quarterly) conduct regular client reviews
- Contribute to internal discussions around existing client base and opportunities to increase the OSMO offering or services provided
- Undertake any other bespoke agreed processes for a particular client as required
- Contribute to new business discussions, tech provider workshops etc
Process Improvement
- Continuous identification and implementation of improvements, automation and standardisation of operations processes
- Support with new system review, selection, and implementation
- Contribute and deliver enhancements to OSMO product and client services offering
- Commitment to helping define and implement a benchmark OSMO operating model, in accordance with operational best practice across all clients
Ad-hoc Project management
- Responsibility for onboarding new clients and ensuring a smooth transition into the of clients into the OSMO operating model.
- Maintain and update procedure documentation
- Improvement, enhancement, and integration of existing systems
Skills and Experience
- 5+ years industry experience – preferably with 2 years on the buy-side
- Seeing a firm through a period of growth is an advantage
- Strong product knowledge including equity and equity derivatives, futures options and FX - covering the full trade lifecycle
- Experience of Long/Short Equity Funds as well as Equity Swap / CFD and Exchange Traded Derivative products in particular
- Understanding of fund structures
- Systems experience, in Enfusion, Broadridge Paladyne, MAIA or other OMS / PMS system(s). Trade matching and reconciliation systems
- Strong Excel and IT skills
- Relationship-focused and comfortable interacting with clients and third parties service providers
- A confident, enthusiastic and reliable self-starter who can hit the ground running, take on responsibility and work autonomously
- Highly organized – able to multi-task and prioritise in a busy environment across multiple workstreams.
