Macgregor Black are partnering with a growing consumer brand on the search for a Commercial Manager. This is a permanent role based in North of England.
As Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for driving growth across the independent retail landscape by developing strategic partnerships with wholesalers, buying groups, and key independent retailers.
You will lead account strategy, commercial negotiations, and joint business planning while ensuring strong distribution, visibility, and promotional execution across the channel.
The role requires someone who understands how to unlock growth within fragmented retail environments and who enjoys building close relationships with entrepreneurial customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver the commercial strategy for the Independent Retail and Wholesale channel.
- Manage and grow relationships with key wholesalers, buying groups, and independent retail partners.
- Identify opportunities to increase distribution, visibility, and rate of sale across independent stores.
- Lead commercial negotiations, including pricing, promotions, and trading agreements.
- Deliver sales growth, revenue targets, and margin objectives within the channel.
- Build and execute joint business plans with key wholesale and retail partners.
- Work closely with field sales teams to ensure strong in-store execution and availability.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends within the independent trade.
- Provide accurate forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure successful delivery of commercial initiatives.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in Key Account Management, Commercial Management, or National Account roles within FMCG.
- Strong experience working with Independent Retailers, Wholesalers, Buying Groups, or the Convenience channel.
- Track record of driving distribution and sales growth within the independent trade.
- Experience negotiating with wholesale partners and independent retail groups.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify growth opportunities in fragmented markets.
- Excellent analytical and forecasting skills.
