Senior Grid Manager UK – BESS


TGRC is hiring on behalf of a leading UK BESS developer to expand its grid capability across a growing pipeline of utility-scale storage projects. The business is at the forefront of enabling grid flexibility and supporting renewable energy integration across the UK.

This role offers the opportunity to shape grid strategy across a high-growth BESS development pipeline.


The Role

The Grid Manager will take ownership of grid connection activities across our client's growing BESS portfolio. This includes managing grid applications, negotiating connection agreements, coordinating technical studies, and working closely with development, engineering and commercial teams to optimise connection strategies.

The role involves engagement with DNOs, National Grid ESO, grid consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects progress efficiently through the connection process.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage grid connection strategy for a portfolio of UK battery storage projects
  • Lead and manage grid applications with DNOs, National Grid ESO and consultants
  • Review and negotiate connection offers and technical requirements
  • Coordinate grid studies including load flow, fault level, and connection feasibility
  • Support optimisation of connection capacity, timelines, and curtailment risk
  • Collaborate with development and engineering teams to align grid strategy with project design
  • Support grid aspects of project development, including planning and commercial evaluation
  • Monitor regulatory changes and grid reform developments impacting project timelines


Profile

  • 7+years' experience in grid connections, power systems or pre-construction within renewable energy
  • Familiarity with UK DNOs, National Grid ESO or grid consultancies
  • Strong understanding of UK grid connection process and technical requirements
  • Experience managing grid studies, connection applications, and early-stage project development
  • Commercial awareness and ability to identify connection risks and opportunities
  • Comfortable working across multiple projects in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with development and engineering teams
