Policy Lead
About the Role
A leading organisation within the UK energy sector is seeking a Policy Lead to support the development and coordination of policy and guidance across a critical national infrastructure environment.
This role focuses on working closely with technical experts across the electrical and operational safety space to translate complex technical issues into clear policy, guidance, and industry programmes. You will help shape standards, coordinate working groups, and engage with stakeholders across industry, government, and regulators to support improvements in operational practice and safety outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate policy initiatives and industry programmes related to operational and electrical safety.
- Support policy committees and technical working groups, including providing secretariat support.
- Work with subject matter experts to develop policy, guidance, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate consultation responses, briefings, and policy communications.
- Manage documentation, reporting, and policy records.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external policy queries.
- Engage with regulators, government, and industry stakeholders.
- Represent the organisation at meetings, events, and industry forums.
- Coordinate projects, workshops, communications, and stakeholder engagement activities.
About You
You have experience working within the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sector and are comfortable engaging with technical specialists to develop practical policy and guidance.
You are highly organised, confident working with senior stakeholders, and able to translate complex technical information into clear written and verbal communication.
You are able to influence without direct authority and manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, or a related sector.
- Experience supporting or developing policy, standards, or industry guidance.
- Understanding of UK regulatory and policy environments.
- Strong project coordination and communication skills.
- Experience engaging with stakeholders across organisations or sectors.
Desirable:
- Experience working with technical or engineering teams.
- Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, policy, public policy, or similar).
- Experience supporting industry committees, working groups, or consultations.
- Experience producing guidance, briefings, or digital policy content.
London – hybrid/remote
Full-time, Permanent
£50,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience)
