PE Global is currently recruiting a Supplier Development Engineer for our global manufacturing client supporting some of the world’s largest mining equipment programmes.
This role is based fully onsite in Peterlee with approximately 10% travel. This is an initial 12 month contract position based on site 5 days a week. Pay Rate is £34.30ph PAYE or £46.35ph Umbrella.
Responsibilities:
- Assess supplier quality and ensure materials and components meet manufacturing specifications and regulatory standards.
- Conduct supplier audits and quality assessments to evaluate manufacturing processes, procedures, and environments.
- Monitor supplier defect rates and quality metrics, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support suppliers in improving performance through process enhancements, quality assurance planning, and process controls.
- Develop and implement supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms.
- Conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with organisational and regulatory standards.
- Work closely with suppliers to identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Contribute to supplier capability development to support production of high-performance industrial equipment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience working within industrial manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of supplier quality, manufacturing processes, and process improvement.
- Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and supplier quality methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Additional Information:
- 12 month contract with strong likelihood of extension
- Working hours: Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 3:00pm, Friday: 7:00am – 12:00pm
- 10% travel required
- Interview process: One-stage Teams interview (approx. 60 minutes)
