Field Service Engineer – CHP AND Gas Engines


A well-established and growing UK power company is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join its service team, supporting a range of engine-driven and power generation systems nationally.


This role is suited to an engineer from a CHP or engine background, we are looking for individuals with experience across different energy technologies.


This is a field-based position offering a mix of planned maintenance, reactive fault finding, and technical support, backed by a knowledgeable and supportive engineering team.


Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to carry out routine servicing and first-response breakdowns on engine-driven power systems and related equipment
  • Perform a mix of planned and reactive maintenance, including diagnostics and fault rectification
  • Produce clear and detailed service reports, identifying faults, remedial actions, and improvement opportunities
  • Liaise with customers and internal teams to ensure smooth and professional service delivery
  • Provide technical support to colleagues and contribute to the wider engineering function
  • Support internal and customer training activities where required
  • Maintain high health & safety standards, including completion of risk assessments and method statements
  • Act as a professional representative of the business on customer sites


Requirements

  • Background as a Service Engineer, Engine Engineer, Technician, or in a related mechanical/ electrical engineering role
  • Strong practical understanding of engine-driven or power generation systems
  • Good mechanical and electrical fault-finding capability
  • Experience with equipment such as MWM TCG 2032 is advantageous
  • Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining clear communication with office-based teams
  • Positive, proactive attitude with strong customer-facing skills
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and occasionally stay away from home
