About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Application Engineer to take a lead role in the selection, preparation, and delivery of quotations for bespoke, large-scale pumping equipment.

This position requires ensuring proposals are delivered on time, at the required margin, while providing high-level technical support and contributing to commercial decision-making. You will manage complex client requests and work effectively under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the selection of bespoke pumping equipment based on customer specifications using advanced pump selection software and technical data.
• Take ownership of preparing and delivering accurate, detailed, and commercially viable quotations for large-scale pumping systems.
• Ensure all proposals align with customer requirements, company objectives, and business KPIs.
• Provide technical expertise throughout the quotation process, producing system curves, calculating pipe friction losses, and maintaining technical integrity.
• Collaborate with Sales and Engineering teams to ensure customer requirements are translated into feasible, cost-effective solutions.
• Support the Commercial Manager in pricing, margin, and project scope decisions.
• Utilize pump selection software and in-house tools to deliver optimal technical solutions efficiently.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and provide technical support during enquiry and quotation stages.
• Ensure internal data recording systems and costings are kept up to date.
• Provide ongoing technical support to colleagues across the business, ensuring clear communication and resolution of technical challenges.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with expertise in large bespoke pump systems and fluid dynamics.
• Extensive experience in pump selection, performance analysis, and system curve generation.
• Strong experience preparing and delivering quotations for custom-engineered pumps, focusing on large-scale, complex systems.
• Familiarity with commercial terms, conditions, and managing financial aspects of proposals.
• Experience in wastewater or similar industries, with knowledge of relevant standards and regulations.
• Proven experience working within an ISO quality system and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics.
• Proficient in ERP systems and MS Office, with excellent attention to detail in technical and commercial documentation.

• Excellent communication skills to present technical proposals clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong attention to detail for accurate quotations, system curves, and technical documentation.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines, managing multiple quotations and customer enquiries effectively.
• Proficiency in pump selection software and relevant technical tools.
