Principal Product Security Architect

£125,000 + benefits | Payments Technology | London (4 days onsite)

I’m partnering with a high‑growth organisation in the payments technology sector, looking to appoint a Principal Product Security Architect. This is the most senior architect in the business, a critical role shaping secure design across customer‑facing products, cloud platforms and payments systems.

The environment is modern, cloud‑native and engineering‑led. You’ll work closely with Product Security and cross‑functional engineering teams, embedding secure‑by‑design principles into new features, product lifecycles and emerging payments capabilities. This is an opportunity for someone who thrives in fast‑paced, high‑autonomy environments and enjoys influencing product direction from the earliest architectural decisions.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading security architecture across a fully cloud‑native, multi‑cloud stack (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Working with Product Security and engineering squads to embed secure-by-design into customer‑facing products and payments features.
• Running threat modelling, design reviews and security assessments for critical product initiatives.
• Defining opinionated, reusable secure architecture patterns, developer guardrails and security controls.
• Providing hands‑on architectural guidance across distributed systems, microservices and containerised workloads (Kubernetes).
• Shaping and maturing secure SDLC practices and CI/CD pipeline security.
• Influencing product strategy and engineering direction as the senior-most architect.

What we’re looking for

• Principal‑level architect with strong Product Security leadership experience.
• Deep technical capability in multi‑cloud architecture and modern application security.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, distributed systems, microservices and container security.
• Proven experience in threat modelling, secure design reviews and establishing secure patterns.
• A collaborative, low‑ego operator comfortable working across engineering, product and security teams.
• Consulting‑style adaptability, confident working without heavy process and able to introduce structure where needed.
