Job description
Pay: £30,000.00 - £35,000.00 per year
Job description:
Location: Minworth, Birmingham (B76 1BA)
Working pattern: Monday–Friday, office-based 5 days per week
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive (DOE) + performance opportunity
The role
We’re a small team with a start-up mentality, running a growing online memorial business. Our products are personal and meaningful, often purchased at emotionally significant times — so this is a niche where sensitivity, care and judgement matter.
We’re looking for a Commercial Marketing Manager who wants extreme ownership: someone who takes responsibility for outcomes, drives improvements without being chased, and enjoys the challenge of building and scaling what works. You’ll own and improve our digital marketing performance, with a clear focus on commercial results — ROAS, CAC, margin/contribution, and profitable growth.
We operate on Shopify, so Shopify experience is beneficial.
Start-up mentality (important)
This is a hands-on environment. While your core focus is marketing performance, you’ll need to pitch in wherever needed — jumping on urgent priorities, solving problems, and doing what’s required for the good of the business. If you want narrow responsibilities and strict boundaries, this won’t be the right fit.
What you’ll be responsible forPaid advertising (Meta, Google Ads and other channels where relevant)
- Plan, launch, and optimise paid campaigns with a focus on profitable growth
- Own performance: ROAS, CAC, contribution/margin, scaling efficiently
- Improve targeting, creative performance, offers, and landing pages
- Keep messaging on-brand, sensitive, and appropriate for the memorial category
Email marketing (“shots”) + segmentation (B2B focus) — Klaviyo
- Own Klaviyo campaign strategy and execution, including targeted B2B segments
- Build email plans: audiences, messaging, cadence, offers, and measurement
- Support and improve key flows where needed (welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, reactivation)
- Report on email performance: revenue, engagement, deliverability, and list health
- Maintain a thoughtful, respectful tone that fits the products and customer context
Commercial reporting & insights
- Produce clear weekly reporting focused on ROAS and commercial impact
- Identify what’s working, what isn’t, and the actions to improve performance
- Build a structured test-and-learn approach across channels
SEO (ownership + practical execution)
- Create and deliver an SEO plan that drives revenue and high-intent traffic
- Coordinate technical, on-page and content priorities and measure outcomes
Product listings (oversight + potential team management)
- Oversee product listing quality and performance across key products/ranges
- Work with (and potentially manage) a small remote team supporting product listing updates
- Ensure product pages support conversion rate, AOV and paid traffic efficiency on Shopify
Website redevelopment (Shopify)
- We’re planning a website refresh/rebuild in the near future, so you’ll provide marketing oversight and input to ensure the site supports conversion, SEO, tracking, and paid traffic performance
- Work with internal/external partners on structure, messaging, merchandising, and launch readiness
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience delivering growth in e-commerce (Shopify experience beneficial)
- Strong capability across paid ads (Meta + Google Ads), email marketing (Klaviyo), and performance reporting
- Comfortable owning results in a small team / start-up environment
- Highly commercial: you think in profit, ROAS, CAC, margin and scalability
- Sensitive and thoughtful communicator who understands the products and customer context
- Hands-on, proactive, and practical — you take responsibility and make things happen
- Able to work from our Minworth office 5 days per week (B76 1BA)
Nice to have
- Experience marketing in sensitive categories
- CRO experience (landing pages, conversion improvements, testing)
- Confident with GA4 / attribution / clean measurement
- Experience marketing to B2B audiences (segmentation and targeted outreach)
How to apply
Send your CV and a short note covering:
- Outcomes you’ve driven (ROAS/CAC improvements, email revenue growth, SEO results)
- Which channels you’ve owned directly (Meta, Google Ads, Klaviyo)
- Why you’re a good fit for a niche, sensitive category and a small team environment
- Why you want a role with extreme ownership in a growing start-up business
