Portfolio Manager – Enterprise Change Portfolio

£71,000 +bonus +extensive benefits

Portfolio Manager to play a key role in shaping and optimising a group-wide change portfolio within a central Portfolio Management Office.

This role sits at the heart of strategic change delivery, ensuring that programmes and projects across the organisation are aligned to business priorities, governed effectively, and delivering measurable value.

The successful candidate will provide portfolio-level oversight, insight and challenge, enabling leadership teams to make informed, data-driven decisions about investment, prioritisation, and delivery.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders, delivery teams and governance forums to create transparency across the change portfolio while strengthening portfolio management practices across the organisation.



Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Portfolio Oversight

  • Provide end-to-end visibility of the enterprise change portfolio, monitoring progress, performance, and delivery outcomes
  • Support senior leadership in portfolio prioritisation and investment decision-making
  • Identify cross-programme dependencies, risks and delivery impacts across the portfolio

Governance & Decision Support

  • Establish and embed robust portfolio governance, reporting and controls
  • Provide clear, insight-driven reporting to executive stakeholders to support strategic decisions
  • Facilitate portfolio-level governance forums and strategic reviews

Portfolio Planning & Performance

  • Monitor delivery health across programmes and projects including scope, milestones, risks, and benefits realisation
  • Oversee financial performance across the portfolio including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Ensure change initiatives remain aligned to organisational strategy and business outcomes

Capacity & Resource Management

  • Support portfolio-wide resource planning and capacity management
  • Identify demand for specialist expertise and help optimise the allocation of internal resources
  • Highlight potential conflicts between strategic change initiatives and business-as-usual activities

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive the ongoing development of portfolio management capabilities, frameworks, and tools
  • Promote best practice across programme and project delivery teams
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to the evolution of enterprise change governance

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders, programme teams, and functional partners
  • Act as a trusted advisor on portfolio management practices and change delivery
  • Foster collaboration across teams to ensure alignment and transparency



Experience & Skills:


We are looking for a portfolio professional who combines strategic thinking with strong governance and delivery insight.


  • Experience working in a Portfolio Management Office (PMO) or enterprise change environment
  • Strong understanding of programme, project and portfolio management (P3M) practices
  • Experience supporting portfolio prioritisation, investment governance and delivery oversight
  • Ability to provide data-driven reporting and insights to senior stakeholders
  • Experience managing portfolio risks, dependencies and benefits realisation
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience within financial services, insurance, or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with portfolio management tools and collaboration platforms
  • Knowledge of delivery methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, PRINCE2, MSP or SAFe
  • Understanding of capacity planning, financial management and portfolio performance metrics
