Business Development Associate

Our Business Development team is critical to the business. They lead the charge in winning new work from new clients, ensuring we have the turnover to grow the business.
The team is responsible for identifying and nurturing new leads and converting them into wins, and new exciting work, for the business. They build the business’ pipeline of new opportunities through outreach activities including networking, conferences and events, maximising their own networks and lead generation via marketing channels. The team’s work aligns with our business development strategy, ensuring we’re targeting the sectors and brands where we can have greatest impact.
This person will be responsible for building relationships with prospects, understanding their needs and establishing how Hark can help them. They will develop proposals and pitches to present our ideas and solutions to prospects in the most compelling way possible, working closely with internal delivery teams on concepts, content and approaches and ultimately helping to close deals.
Responsibilities
Market analysis
· Enhance knowledge of the market by sharing insights into new sectors, trends and areas of interest for Hark, in order to help grow the business
Prospecting and lead generation
· Increase the size and quality of Hark’s business development pipeline by approaching and securing interest from new prospects, including at events and via social media
· Nurture relationships and convert initial contact into developed conversations and briefs
Securing new work
· Manage the end-to-end sales process from identification of new leads to negotiation of commercials and contract signature, working closely with the Business Development Manager and Director of Business Development
· Write proposals and pitches that reflect the needs of interested prospects
Marketing
· Work closely with business development, corporate marketing and design colleagues to write content for client facing materials and branded assets which present Hark’s products and services to prospects in the most compelling way
· Create event-based strategies to engage with prospects and clients
Innovation
· Help to identify new and creative ways for Hark to build its brand and nurture its pipeline
Tracking and reporting
· Track and report on sales activities and progress against revenue targets using CRM platforms and tools
· Create and maintain systems to ensure effective and accurate management of client and prospect data
Skills, experience and qualifications
· Commercial and entrepreneurial mindset
· Experience in a business development role, or relevant client-facing role
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Expert at networking and relationship building
· Confident and capable writer, able to produce proposals and other client facing materials at speed
· Flexible and adaptable to a fast paced and varied working environment, with excellent organisational skills
· Experience of Salesforce, or a similar CRM, an advantage
· Understanding of and experience in working for or with creative agencies desired (e.g. Marketing, PR, sponsorship activation)
· Interest in at least two of the following: education; youth engagement; social impact; and/or sport
· Great team player
· A self-starter and problem solver
· A can-do, positive and collaborative attitude
Location
· Must be UK based, ideally with easy access to London
· Remote first but we have a London office base and would strongly encourage regular time working in the office
· Occasional travel required (mainly UK)
