Referral & Intake Worker – Domestic Abuse Services


Leicester | Part-Time | Permanent | Women-Only Role


Brook Street Social Care is recruiting for a Referral & Intake Worker on behalf of a long-established specialist charity supporting women affected by domestic abuse.

The organisation has over 40 years’ experience supporting women and families, particularly those from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities, providing refuge accommodation, advocacy, and community-based support to help women rebuild safe and independent lives.


The Role

As a Referral & Intake Worker, you will be one of the first points of contact for women seeking support. You will play a key role in engaging with service users, conducting risk and needs assessments, and coordinating referrals to ensure women receive timely, safe, and appropriate support.

You will need to build trust quickly, handle sensitive conversations with care, and work collaboratively with safeguarding professionals and partner agencies.


Working Pattern

Part-Time

Tuesday to Friday

9:00am – 2:00pm


Salary

£14,768 per annum


Key Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for referrals into the service

• Engage with women experiencing domestic abuse and build trusting relationships

• Carry out risk assessments and needs assessments

• Provide brief interventions and crisis support where appropriate

• Coordinate referrals to internal and external services

• Work closely with multi-agency partners including social care, housing, and safeguarding teams

• Maintain accurate and confidential case records


About You

✔ Experience supporting vulnerable individuals or survivors of domestic abuse

✔ Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk assessment

✔ Experience working in a multi-agency environment

✔ Excellent communication and engagement skills

✔ Ability to manage sensitive and complex situations with empathy and professionalism

Ability to speak at least one BME community language and demonstrate cultural awareness

This role is open to women only under the Equality Act 2010 (Schedule 9, Part 1).
