Job Title: Autism Practitioner / ADOS Assessor – Children

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum (FTE, DOE)

Location: Hybrid – clinic based in Bristol, Birmingham, occasionally London & Winchester with admin/report writing completed remotely

Hours: Bristol 2 days per week (Tues & Thurs), Birmingham 1 day per week (Fri), occasional London & Winchester cover;

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time

Qualifications: ADOS-2 training, with valid HCPC or NMC Registration

Overview:

Compass Associates are proud to be exclusively partnering with a pioneering provider of autism and neurodevelopmental assessments to appoint an Autism Practitioner in the Bristol and Birmingham clinics. This organisation is known for its outstanding diagnostic pathways, clinician-centred culture, and research-informed approach to cognitive health.

This newly created opportunity reflects rapid service growth. Referrals are ready, the team is expanding, and the service seeks a psychologist, OT, SLT or dedicated Nurse, who is confident, highly professional, and passionate about quality neurodevelopmental care.

You’ll join a multidisciplinary team including Consultant Psychiatrists, Paediatricians, and Autism Intervention Specialists, providing ADOS-2 assessments and diagnostic input for children and families.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct gold-standard ADOS-2 assessments (typically 2–3 face-to-face per day)
  • Deliver high-quality, multi-source diagnostic reports (admin/write-up can be remote)
  • Contribute to MDT discussions, formulations, and intervention planning
  • Provide parent coaching and input into early intervention strategies (e.g., PACT or ESDM, if trained)
  • Collaborate closely with medical consultants to maintain excellence in diagnostic care
  • Participate in service reflection, CPD activities, and clinical audits as required


Essential Candidate Requirements:

  • HCPC Registration as a Psychologist, OT, or Speech & Language Therapist, or valid NMC registration
  • ADOS-2 qualification with experience in paediatric autism assessments
  • Excellent report writing and collaborative clinical skills
  • Confident working independently and engaging with children and families
  • Strong professional integrity and reflective practice ethos
