Job description
Company
Our client is a globally recognised engineering business who specialise in the design and manufacture of high-performance engineered components and solutions.
With a strong heritage in high-performance engineered components used in automotive, aerospace and energy applications, the organisation is now investing to broaden its product portfolio and technical capability at one of its key UK manufacturing sites.
As part of this transformation, the business is now looking to recruit a senior engineering leader who will play a pivotal role in this transition, leading the engineering function to ensure the site has the processes, capabilities, equipment and technical expertise required to support new, highly regulated product programmes.
The Role – Engineering Manager
The incoming Engineering Manager is accountable for the overall performance, capability, and direction of the Engineering function across the site. This role provides strategic leadership, governance, and operational oversight to ensure engineering activities support safe, compliant, efficient manufacturing operations and successful project delivery aligned with business objectives.
The site is entering a significant period of transformation, with plans over the next 12–24 months to expand capability and begin manufacturing products for other industry verticals, as well as potential future markets.
As a member of the Leadership Team, the Engineering Manager partners closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Commercial teams, and key customers to deliver sustainable engineering outcomes that support growth, cost, quality, and safety targets — particularly as the site expands from single sector into multi sector manufacturing servicing a range of clients and markets.
Key Requirements:
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- CEng (Chartered Engineer) status desirable.
- 10+ years’ experience in engineering leadership roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Automotive experience highly valued; aerospace or similarly regulated industry experience strongly advantageous.
- Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and managers.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, machinery, and engineering governance.
- Experience operating in regulated or certified environments (e.g. AS9100).
- Demonstrated success in aligning engineering delivery with operational and business objectives.
This opportunity would suit a credible and influential quality leader who enjoys operating in a technically complex, fast-moving manufacturing environment and wants to play a key role in supporting the next stage of growth for a globally recognised engineering business.
