Principal / Senior Mechanical Engineer – Data Centres

Bristol | Hybrid Working | £60,000 - £70,000 + Excellent Benefits

Data centres are one of the fastest-growing sectors in engineering right now, and I’m currently working with a global engineering consultancy that is expanding its mission critical team.

They are looking for a Principal or Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to help lead the delivery of complex data centre projects and support the continued growth of this specialist sector.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on technically challenging projects with major global clients while playing a key role in shaping mechanical design solutions for critical infrastructure.

The Role

You will take a leading role in the mechanical design and delivery of large-scale data centre and mission critical facilities, working closely with multidisciplinary teams from concept through to detailed design and commissioning.

You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, influence technical design decisions and contribute to the growth of a highly regarded building services team.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading mechanical building services design on complex data centre and mission critical projects
• Delivering designs across all project stages, from concept through to installation and commissioning
• Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders
• Communicating technical information clearly to project teams and clients
• Supporting the development and mentoring of junior engineers
• Contributing to the successful delivery of high-profile engineering projects

About You

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• Chartered or working towards Chartership (CIBSE or IMechE)
• Strong experience in mechanical building services design
• Experience working on data centres or other mission critical environments such as healthcare, laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities or similar
• Ability to lead projects and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
• Experience using industry-standard design software
