Job description
About Our Client
We're representing a company on a mission to redefine how modern distributed systems are tested and released. Their platform is trusted by engineering teams who demand rock-solid reliability, scalable performance, and deep technical visibility — and it exists because developers deserve something better than what's out there.
If you've ever lived through a production outage, had a brutal on-call week, or watched a release slip by weeks because of one killer bug — you'll understand exactly why our client built what they built. If you're passionate about developer-first products, system resilience, and correctness, keep reading.
The Role
Our client isn't looking for a typical SE. They want an unconventional thinker — someone who gets genuinely energized by breaking things, thrives on chaos, and has the technical chops to deploy a sophisticated testing platform against real-world software and make it sing.
You'll split your time between hands-on POC work, customer-facing technical conversations, and thought leadership around a testing paradigm that most engineering teams haven't encountered yet. You'll be the person in the room who actually understands what's happening under the hood — and can make a skeptical senior engineer a believer.
What you'll do:
- Execute POC engagements that demonstrate real product value to prospective customers
- Lead customer workshops on Property-Based Testing (PBT) and related methodologies
- Support the sales team with technical qualification and consultation
- Find bugs. Break open source software. Make a point of it.
- Build, maintain, and deliver product demos that land with technical audiences
- Guide customers and prospects on platform adoption and testing best practices
- Participate in new customer onboarding and early-stage success
- Contribute thought leadership on testing complex distributed systems
Who You Are
- Highly technical — and more importantly, technically curious
- Easily bored; you need new problems to stay engaged
- A natural communicator who can translate complexity for both engineers and executives
- Comfortable under pressure and in tight timelines
- Professional enough for enterprise clients, flexible enough for a fast-moving startup
- A team player who works well in small, high-trust, high-skill environments
What You Bring
- Hands-on experience building and running automated tests (integration, end-to-end)
- Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes
- Object-oriented programming fundamentals
- Linux-based operating systems
- Scripting: Bash/Shell, Python, or JavaScript
- Data querying: SQL, NoSQL, or equivalent
- Genuine interest in chaos engineering, fault injection, or reliability testing is a strong plus
A Note on Travel
This role requires some travel — client sites, conferences, and occasional visits to our client's HQ. If that's your thing, all the better.
Why It's Worth a Look
Most SE roles are demo-and-support. This one is different. Our client is building a new category, and the SE who joins now will have outsized influence on how that story gets told technically — and how customers succeed with a platform that genuinely does something new.
