About the Role
Working within Aureos Highways Business Unit, and forming a part of the Operational team, the Sub-Agent plays an integral part during pre-construction phase in refining our construction phase delivery plan and mobilizing for construction, including programme; cost; quality; supply chain procurement; safety and PCF governance. In addition, there are major utility diversions planned that you will be responsible for delivering.
This role allows the Sub-Agent to be involved in the pre-construction planning of the works delivery and then rolls into the construction phase to allow this planning to be delivered. Location is flexible and subject to on-site activity during pre-construction phase. Key responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with the wider team to refine the construction phase delivery plan, optimizing construction programme; develop efficient, lean delivery methodology; effective risk and opportunity management etc
- Assisting in the mobilization for construction phase including preparing PCF Products, RAMS and other site documentation
- Overseeing major utility diversions
- Growing and managing the engineering team
- Ensure compliance with construction drawings and record any variances
- Overseeing quality control
- Ensure Site diaries and allocation sheets are produced
- Keep contemporary records
- Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance
- Attend weekly site meetings
- Coordinate with the design manager to ensure that the design activities are visible and that all activities are aligned to support the programme
- Regular review of the Cost to Complete with the project managers/quantity surveyors
- Framework Management - Overall performance of the RDP and CWF, ensuring that requirements are delivered, and best-practice is consistently adopted across delivery teams. Working with and supporting teams to embed changes and improvements to processes; Ensuring resource is allocated appropriately; NH forums are attended, key messages are cascaded and initiatives and best practice is implemented in key areas, including: Health, Safety and Well Being; Customer relations and customer experience; Stakeholder management; Portfolio Schedule Management; Production management including LEAN; Coordination of BIM and document control; Quality management (RFT); Performance management incl CPF and Design Management.
- Strengthen Client Relationships - Ensure compliance with divisional & client procedures, policies and actions arising; Attend Client meetings as necessary, drive to promote healthy working relationship; Ensure RDP Scorecard measures are monitored and targets achieved; develop and manage relationships with the National Highways team, including the maximisation of future opportunities. Maintaining records in CRM; Encourage and support the delivery of successful collaborative planning with the contract delivery teams; Attendance at Project lessons learnt meeting
- Health, Safety and Environmental leadership - Lead by example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of HS&E best practice, ensuring compliance with company procedure, policy and legal obligations. Promote Near Miss and Positive Intervention reporting. Undertake Health and Safety tours and engage with site teams to actively promote the right behaviours and culture.
- Staff Recruitment and Career Development – ensuring delivery teams have the right level and competency of resources
- Business Development – work collaboratively with teams from the wider group to ensure compliance with companywide policies and procedures and growth targets are delivered
About You:
Previous experience undertaking a similar, relevant engineering management role delivering National Highways projects/ frameworks would be desirable.
Preferably a member of relevant professional institution and have a Bachelors or Masters Degree in relevant engineering subject. Proven engineering management experience gained across a range of infrastructure projects in a multi-disciplinary environment.

- Can undertake Design Managers duties for highways detailed design
- Understands and can adopt LEAN practices across teams
