Commissioning Planning Engineer


Bridgwater, Somerset (Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Up to £378 per day PAYE / £515 per day Umbrella (DOE)

Contract until end of 2026 with possibility of extension


We are currently seeking an experienced Commissioning Planning Engineer to support a major UK infrastructure programme based in Bridgwater, Somerset.


Working within a high-performing Project Controls and Planning team, this role will support the planning and coordination of commissioning activities on a large and complex construction project.


This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with strong Primavera P6 experience and a background in major infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects.


The Role

Working as part of the Commissioning Planning team, you will support the management and maintenance of integrated project schedules and provide schedule analysis to support the timely delivery of commissioning activities.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing and maintaining integrated project schedules using Primavera P6
  • Ensuring schedules are fully logic-linked and aligned with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
  • Supporting the Integrated Work Schedule (IWS) and ensuring updates are delivered in line with reporting cycles
  • Providing schedule analysis and performance reporting
  • Supporting trend and change management processes
  • Identifying and resolving time-related risks and scheduling issues
  • Collaborating with wider Project Controls disciplines including Cost, Risk and Estimating
  • Producing schedule reports and commentary for programme teams and stakeholders


Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience in planning and scheduling on major construction or infrastructure projects
  • Strong experience using Primavera P6
  • Understanding of construction or engineering planning methodologies
  • Experience producing fully logic-linked project schedules
  • Knowledge of earned value and performance reporting
  • Understanding of contract frameworks such as NEC or FIDIC
  • Strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills


Desirable

  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure programmes
  • Knowledge of schedule risk analysis
  • Familiarity with tools such as Acumen Fuse, Synchro, Power BI or EcoSys
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment
