Aircraft Bodywork Technician / Aircraft Engineer

Triple J Aviation Engineering is looking for a Aircraft Bodywork Technician / Aircraft Engineer

Job description

About Us

Triple J Aviation Engineering is a specialist Diamond Aircraft MRO based at Oxford Airport, operating from a newly refurbished hangar. We maintain and repair the full range of Diamond aircraft, and we're proud of the friendly, safety-conscious environment we've built. Our team is close-knit, professional, and passionate about general aviation.

The Role

This is a genuinely varied position combining aircraft bodywork - including composite repairs, paint and and finishing with hands-on aircraft engineering and maintenance. The balance between the two sides will flex depending on workload and operational demand, so you'll need to be adaptable and happy getting stuck in wherever you're needed.

As a Diamond-focused facility, much of our fleet is composite construction, so experience working with glass and carbon fibre is a real bonus - but if you've got the right attitude and a willingness to learn, we're happy to develop the right person.

Bodywork Responsibilities

• Composite repairs to airframe structures (glass fibre and carbon fibre)

• Surface preparation, priming, painting, and finishing to a high standard

• Assessing damage and planning repair schemes in line with manufacturer data

• Maintaining a clean, organised workspace in line with aviation standards

Engineering Responsibilities

• Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Diamond aircraft

• Troubleshooting and rectification of mechanical defects

• Working in accordance with the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and approved data

• Completion of technical records and documentation to UK CAA standards

• Supporting the licensed engineering team with inspections and component changes

About You

Essential:

• A practical, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail

• Ability to work to technical documentation and manufacturer standards

• Good communication skills and a team-first attitude

• Willingness to work flexibly across both bodywork and engineering tasks

• Some experience in an aircraft maintenance or workshop environment

Desirable:

• Experience in aircraft bodywork, composite repair, or paint and finishing

• UK CAA Part-66 licence (Cat A or B1) or working towards one

• Previous experience on Diamond aircraft (DA40, DA42, DA62)

• Composite repair training or certification

• Experience with aircraft paint systems and spray equipment

• Familiarity with aviation safety culture, human factors, and Just Culture principles

What We Offer

• Salary dependent on experience

• Workplace pension scheme

• Free on-site parking at Oxford Airport

• Overtime available

• Company social events

• A friendly, supportive team working in a modern, newly refurbished hangar

• The opportunity to specialise in Diamond aircraft - one of the most popular composite airframes in general aviation

• A genuine commitment to training and professional development

• The odd flight in one of our aircraft!

If this sounds like the right fit for you, we'd love to hear from you. Please send your CV and a brief covering note, or get in touch for an informal chat about the role.
