Express Recruitment is proud to represent a well-established and highly reputable steel fabrication business. Due to continued growth and increasing project demand, our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join their team.


The successful candidate will be responsible for opening new opportunities across industries including rail, engineering and construction. Previous experience dealing in similar industries is essential.


In return, our client is offering a competitive starting salary of up to c£65,000, a company car or car allowance, and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, alongside genuine opportunities for long-term career development. Please note the successful candidate will be required to work from the Leicestershire-based office once per week.


Roles & Responsibilities


  • Implement a strategic sales plan tailored to the company’s customer base and ensure continued growth within the steel markets
  • Actively manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation and prospecting through to arranging appointments, preparing proposals, negotiating and closing new business opportunities
  • Liaise frequently with clients to identify requirements and deliver tailored quotations based on project specifications
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients to maximise long-term business opportunities
  • Work closely with project teams, estimators and production staff to ensure client requirements are clearly communicated and delivered


Skills & Experience


  • Proven experience in a Business Development or Sales role within the steel, engineering or construction industry
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, including structural calculations and CAD documentation
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all business levels
  • Experience preparing quotations and demonstrating confident negotiation skills
  • Ability to use CRM software packages
  • Full UK driving licence
