Senior Engineering Team Lead - Android

Dojo is looking for a Senior Engineering Team Lead - Android

Job description

The role

Our cloud-native acquiring platform is the resilient backbone of Dojo, but our ambition extends far beyond just processing transactions. We are building a differentiated device ecosystem, and at the very heart of this strategy is the Dojo Device OS team. This is the true intersection of our hardware and software, the platform that will transform our devices from simple payment terminals into an ecosystem of apps for our partners and customer.

As the Senior Engineering Team Lead for Dojo Device OS, you will lead a talented team of Android engineers responsible for building this foundational software platform on top of our Android stack. We are looking for a delivery-focused leader with a deep background in Android engineering. You will be instrumental in enabling both Dojo and our third-party partners to build and run applications on our hardware, directly contributing to our long-term vision. If you’re passionate about mentoring engineers and leading the delivery of a software ecosystem that supercharges our hardware products, this role is for you.

What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Android engineers, fostering a collaborative and open culture where problems are solved effectively.
  • Drive the technical execution and delivery of the team roadmap, ensuring a high rate of delivery in an agile environment while maintaining exceptional quality.
  • Take technical responsibility for the entire software development lifecycle, from architectural design and SDK definition to deployment and operational health.
  • Build the foundational software platform, including a Launcher application and device-specific SDKs, that enables a seamless experience for both our own and our partners' applications.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and leads of adjacent teams to align on strategy and deliver a cohesive product experience.

What you will bring

  • Proven experience in a technical leadership role, managing and mentoring a team of Android engineers in a high-impact area.
  • A strong, hands-on background in Android development, with deep knowledge of Kotlin and modern frameworks (e.g., Jetpack Compose).
  • Experience in library or SDK development, with an understanding of how to build extensible software for other developers to use.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align and influence both technical and non-technical partners.
  • A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with experience in agile methodologies and a strong belief in quality, automated testing, and CI/CD.
  • Product-centric thinking, with a genuine passion for creating elegant, reliable software that solves real-world customer and partner problems.
  • Experience in working with low level device libraries or AOSP would be a bonus!
