We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our client's senior leadership team, working directly with the Managing Director to drive business success across operations, sales, and finance.
The Opportunity
The company is part of an acquisitive UK Group of engineering / manufacturing companies.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll lead commercial strategy, optimise margins, and ensure contractual excellence across all projects and business units. You’ll play a pivotal role in scaling the business while safeguarding it from commercial risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Profit & Performance: Drive revenue growth and margin improvement (target KPIs: Gross Margin >40%, EBIT >20%)
- Commercial Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate legal, operational, and financial risks
- Contracts & Negotiation: Oversee full contract lifecycle, from tendering to final settlement
- Business Development: Lead bids, tenders, and client acquisition strategies
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Own commercial KPIs, project budgets, and annual sales forecasts
- Process Improvement: Enhance internal systems and ensure compliance with H&S and regulatory standards
- Leadership: Manage and mentor cross-functional teams, including sales personnel
- Collaboration: Work closely with Operations to ensure delivery aligns with commercial commitments

- Clear and structured annual sales forecasts

- Delivery of turnover and commercial targets
- Effective contribution to senior management strategy
About You
- Commercial background with strong engineering understanding - ideally with a background in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Proven ability to deliver against KPIs and business objectives
- Confident negotiator with excellent communication skills
- Highly organised, focused, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Technically competent to interpret engineering scopes
- Driven, consistent, and committed at a professional level
