Part Time Experienced Farm Hand - Beef Unit

Job description

We are a family run beef farm looking for an experienced and reliable part time farm hand to join our team.
This role would particularly suit a semi-retired, knowledgeable stock person. Please note, this is not a trainee position - we are looking for someone who already has a strong practical experience and can work confidently and independently without supervision and training.
Working Pattern:

• Every Sunday: 6.30am - 9.30am
• Every other week: Monday to Friday, 6.30am - 10.30am
• Additional hours available ad hoc during harvest, TB testing and for holiday cover.

About us:
We are a family run beef unit with approximately 600 cattle. The majority of stock are house through the winter, with around half turned out during the summer months.
Alongside liverstock, we grow our own feed crops including spring barley, grass, and maize silage.
Essential Experience & Skills:
Applicants must have proven, hands on experience with:

• Cattle handling and livestock care
• Tractor driving
• JCB
• Feeder wagon operation
• Straw chopper use
• Full driving license

• Confident working alone and making sensible decisions
• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
• Able to fit in with an existing team of younger staff and provide experience and support when needed.
