Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

£190,000 per annum (DOE)

£10,000 Joining Bonus

Located in Surrey

£5000 Car Allowance

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our 12-bed adolescent inpatient service, supporting young people aged 13-18 experiencing acute mental health challenges. This role involves providing specialist psychiatric care, guiding treatment plans, and supporting patients and their families in a safe, therapeutic environment.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and education staff, to deliver personalised care. You will provide clinical leadership, oversee risk management, and ensure treatment plans are evidence-based and tailored to each young person’s needs.

Essential Requirements:

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
• Specialist registration (or within 6 months of CCT) in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Experience in inpatient child and adolescent mental health services.
• Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and trauma-informed care.
• Experience in teaching, research, or service development is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for admitted patients.
• Develop and oversee individual care plans in collaboration with the MDT.
• Prescribe and monitor medication according to best practice guidelines.
• Lead ward rounds, care plan reviews, and relevant legal assessments.
• Liaise with families, carers, and external professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Provide supervision and guidance to junior doctors and trainees.
• Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in the consultant on-call rota.
