Graduate Building Surveyor – Cambridge

1st Select Ltd is looking for a Graduate Building Surveyor – Cambridge

Job description

Graduate Building Surveyor – Cambridge

We’re working with a well-respected multi-disciplinary consultancy in Cambridge that’s looking to bring in a Graduate Building Surveyor to join their growing team. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who wants proper APC support, a wide spread of project exposure, and a clear long-term route to progress their career.

You’ll be joining an established Building Surveying team, working closely with senior surveyors and reporting into experienced leadership, with the chance to get involved in a broad mix of professional and project-led work from day one. The role offers exposure across a variety of sectors including residential, education, industrial and commercial, giving you the kind of experience that genuinely helps build a strong APC diary and skillset.

The work itself will include:

  • Dilapidations.
  • Technical due diligence / pre-acquisition surveys.
  • Contract administration and project work.
  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) surveys.
  • Defect diagnosis and reporting.

What really stands out here is the support on offer for someone serious about becoming chartered. You’ll be surrounded by experienced surveyors, get hands-on exposure across a varied workload, and be given the structure, mentoring and day-to-day guidance needed to move through your APC properly rather than being left to figure it out on your own.

In terms of culture, this is the sort of environment where learning is encouraged, development is taken seriously, and junior staff are given genuine opportunities to grow. It’s a collaborative office with a strong team feel, and a business that offers a clear route from graduate level through to senior positions for people who perform well and want to build a long-term career.

They’re looking for someone with the right attitude more than anything else — someone who’s motivated, switched on, keen to work towards chartership, and wants to get stuck into a varied workload. A full UK driving licence is essential.

If you’re currently in a role where the APC support isn’t what was promised, or you’re just not getting the spread of work you need, this could be a very strong move.
