Job description

Lead AI Engineer

Location: Flexible, Europe preferred

Type: Full time

Overview

I am supporting a new AI venture backed by an established global technology platform in digital publishing and print infrastructure.

The team is building an AI powered design editor that allows users to generate fully customised, print ready assets from natural language prompts. Unlike template based tools, this system creates original layouts, graphics, and structured outputs end to end.

The Role

You will operate at the intersection of backend engineering and applied AI, designing and building scalable systems that support production grade AI workflows.

This is a hands on role with architectural ownership, focused on taking AI systems from concept through to reliable, high traffic deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build backend systems for AI driven content generation
  • Develop and scale LLM pipelines, including orchestration and evaluation
  • Build agent based workflows for structured content generation
  • Architect APIs using Python, FastAPI, and Pydantic
  • Ensure systems are robust, scalable, and optimised for production inference
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to translate user prompts into structured outputs
  • Own performance, reliability, and cost optimisation across AI services
  • Requirements

    • Strong backend engineering experience with Python
    • Proven experience building and deploying LLM based systems in production
    • Experience with FastAPI, Pydantic, or similar frameworks
    • Hands on experience with RAG, prompt engineering, or agent based systems
    • Understanding of system design for high traffic, low latency environments
    • Experience working across cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP
    • Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor with ownership of architecture and delivery
  • Nice to Have

    • Experience with generative design, graphics, or structured document generation
    • Exposure to multimodal models or layout aware systems
    • Background in building tools for creative or publishing workflows
