Data Sourcing Specialist – Alternative & Market Data - Leading Hedge Fund - London

Job description

My client, a highly prestigious hedge fund, is seeking a Data Scout to join their Data team in London.

Operating at the intersection of the investment desk and the external data market, you will play a key role in identifying, evaluating and onboarding new datasets that directly inform trading and investment decisions. Working closely with front-office stakeholders, you will translate complex data requirements into actionable sourcing strategies, ensuring the firm maintains a competitive edge through differentiated data.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the data sourcing lifecycle - from market mapping and vendor evaluation through to commercial negotiation and contract execution. You will be instrumental in building strong vendor relationships, optimising data spend and ensuring that data products are discoverable, well-governed and aligned to business needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience within data sourcing, vendor management or market data, ideally in a financial services or buy-side environment. You should have a strong understanding of financial markets and data providers, alongside exposure to alternative data. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, as is experience negotiating vendor contracts. Familiarity with tools such as Excel, and ideally SQL or Python, would be advantageous.
