Term: 6 Month Contract

IR35: INSIDE

Hourly Rate: £DOE

We are supporting a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation who are looking to appoint a Purchasing Co-ordinator on an initial 6-month contract. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in ensuring materials availability, supplier performance, and smooth day-to-day procurement operations.


The Role


As a Purchasing Co-ordinator, you’ll support the procurement and supply chain function by managing purchase orders, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring materials are delivered on time to meet production demands.


You’ll be working closely with internal stakeholders across planning, production, and engineering to maintain continuity of supply and resolve any issues quickly and effectively.


Key Responsibilities


  • Raise, manage, and expedite purchase orders in line with MRP/ERP signals
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure on-time delivery of materials
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve delivery, quality, or pricing issues
  • Maintain accurate system data (pricing, lead times, supplier info)
  • Support inventory management, including stock accuracy and shortages
  • Work closely with Planning and Production to align supply with demand
  • Assist with RFQs, supplier selection, and cost control activities
  • Provide regular updates on order status and potential risks


What We’re Looking For


  • Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP, IFS, Oracle)
  • Experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and supplier management
  • Good attention to detail and data accuracy


Desirable


  • Experience in a defence, aerospace, or regulated environment
  • Understanding of supply chain risk, expediting, and inventory control
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or lean processes
