Hybrid Contract Opportunity – Senior C/C++ / Cython Software Developer (IEC 62304)

Location: Kent (Hybrid – Majority Remote)

Contract Type: Outside IR35

Start: April (Interviews from first week of April)

Rate: High, competitive day rate (DOE)


The Opportunity

We’re partnering with an innovative, Kent-based client at the forefront of life-saving medical device technology. They are seeking an experienced Software Developer with strong C/C++ and Python expertise to join on a high-value contract basis.


This is a hybrid role with predominantly home-based working, offering the chance to contribute to meaningful, real-world healthcare solutions while maintaining flexibility.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software in C/C++ and Python
  • Work within IEC 62304-compliant environments for medical device software
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, hardware, and QA
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and technical strategy
  • Ensure software meets stringent safety, regulatory, and performance standards
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation processes


Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience in C and C++ development (Python is also beneficial)
  • Proven experience working under IEC 62304 (medical device software lifecycle standard)
  • Familiarity with embedded systems or low-level software development
  • Experience with regulated environments (medical, aerospace, automotive, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of software validation, verification, and documentation


Desirable

  • Experience with risk management standards (ISO 14971)
  • Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Exposure to hardware/software integration
  • Prior contract experience in Outside IR35 engagements
