Electrical Design Engineer – Contract

Location: Farnborough (Hybrid – minimum 3 days on-site per week)

Contract Length: 6 months (potential extension / permanent)

Hours: 37 per week

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Pay Rate: £20.79 per hour PAYE / £27.82 per hour Umbrella

Overview

Carbon60 are supporting their aerospace client based in Farnborough to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design, development and delivery of electrical products across a range of programmes. This is a great opportunity to join a growing team working on innovative, aviation‑focused projects with exposure to complex design challenges and a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed electrical design solutions using SolidWorks Electrical.
• Maintain and update digital design records in line with engineering processes.
• Select electrical components to meet schematic and system‑level requirements.
• Act as a key point of contact for electrical design queries across engineering and production teams.
• Provide hands‑on support to the build line to resolve emerging electrical issues.
• Support design maturity gate reviews and manage design changes in line with configuration and change control processes.
• Collaborate with Production and Procurement teams to ensure Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles are incorporated early.

Requirements

• Proven experience in aviation-focused electrical design.
• Good proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical (essential).
• Experience using PDM systems (advantageous).
• Ability to translate system‑level requirements into complete design solutions.
• Practical experience resolving emergent electrical issues.
• ONC/HND or equivalent in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering
