Electrical Construction Manager

Location: Heathrow Airport (site‑based)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Manager to oversee major electrical installation packages on high‑profile Heathrow Airport projects. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you’ll manage site activities, workforce coordination, safety compliance, subcontractor performance, and progress delivery to ensure the project meets programme, quality, and commercial targets.


Key Responsibilities

Site Management & Coordination

  • Daily management of electrical operatives and subcontractors.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification.
  • Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, daily briefings, and allocation of labour.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the main contractor, client, and all trades.
  • Keep detailed site diaries, progress records, allocation sheets, and marked‑up drawings.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with RAMS, permits, PPE policies, and Heathrow safety requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, tours, and audits (including MEWPs, podiums, PUWER).
  • Encourage and manage behavioural safety and near‑miss reporting.
  • Report incidents immediately and complete all relevant documentation.

Quality & Technical Delivery

  • Review drawings, specifications, and ensure latest revisions are in use.
  • Monitor and inspect all electrical installation works, closing out snags through Fieldview.
  • Maintain ITPs, check sheets, red‑line drawings, and quality records.
  • Attend and witness all testing and commissioning; ensure certificates are completed and issued.

Materials, Logistics & Planning

  • Plan labour and materials at least two weeks ahead.
  • Manage plant, tool registers, deliveries, and storage areas.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to maintain uninterrupted workflow.

Reporting & Progress

  • Provide weekly progress updates, marked‑up drawings, and site reports to the Project Manager.
  • Support procurement, technical submissions, and any value‑engineering requirements.
  • Highlight risks, delays, or scope changes affecting programme or cost.

Experience & Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (Electrical) or equivalent experience.
  • SMSTS and valid CSCS/Skills Card.
  • Previous experience managing large electrical packages on major construction projects (airport experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of UK H&S regulations and electrical installation standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
