Engineering Manager - Defence

Derby (Hybrid)

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + Car Allowance/Benefits

Monday to Friday - Core office hours

Outsource UK is recruiting for a experienced Engineering Manager to take on a key leadership role within a growing engineering team in Derby. This is a hybrid position, with onsite presence typically required 3 days per week (Tuesday to Thursday).

The Role

This is a strategic leadership position working across multiple engineering disciplines. You will provide direction, governance, and decision-making support while helping to build and develop a high-performing engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across a multi-disciplinary engineering function
• Support the development and growth of the engineering team
• Drive effective decision-making and technical governance across programmes
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on engineering priorities and delivery
• Establish and maintain best practices, processes, and standards
• Mentor and develop engineers at varying levels of experience

Requirements

• Proven experience in an Engineering Manager or senior leadership role
• Strong background working across multiple engineering disciplines
• Experience working within defence environments or SC-cleared programmes (or eligibility to obtain SC clearance)
• Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Strategic mindset with the ability to influence decision-making
