Quality Technician – 12‑Month Contract | Newport, Wales
On-site | ASAP start | ISO17025 Laboratory Environment

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, collaborative team in Newport (NP10), supporting laboratory operations and quality assurance in an ISO17025‑accredited facility.
⭐ What You’ll Be Doing
In this hands‑on technical role, you’ll support laboratory workflows, ensure sample integrity, and uphold rigorous quality standards. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting laboratory operations, specimen handling, and quality processes in an ISO17025 environment
- Logging, scanning, and managing samples using internal systems and databases
- Performing quality checks, basic equipment calibration, and in‑house measurements
- Working in chilled and cold‑room environments safely, with PPE and training provided
- Preparing reagents, receiving supplies, and maintaining chemical stocks
- Participating in continuous improvement activities and maintaining accurate documentation
- Using a light microscope and assisting with tasks such as cell lysis and reagent preparation
- Collaborating with colleagues, while also working independently when required
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Skills
- Experience working to ISO17025 standards
- Strong pipetting skills and confidence working with chemicals
- Excellent documentation accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Proficient with MS Office and basic computer systems
- Clear communication skills and ability to follow instructions precisely
Qualifications
- Degree in Life Sciences or a related field
Working Conditions
- On-site only (non‑remote)
- Rotating hours: 08:00–16:00 and 09:00–17:00
- Role includes manual handling (up to 15 kg), with training provided
